La Mesa Presbyterian Church (USA) Serving the Community Come & See |

A Message from Our Pastor Dear Friends, Welcome to the La Mesa Presbyterian Church (USA) web site and greetings to you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our church was founded in 1944 as a mission church, when the community was on the growing edge of the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and an expanding Sandia Lab was drawing many talented people from across the country to Albuquerque. In the subsequent sixty years, as the La Mesa community changed, the church re-invented itself and its mission many times. However, it has always reflected the consistent themes of "inclusiveness and community activism." A question came up for discussion recently: "What is the theology of this congregation?". One of the La Mesa's clergy friends stated it very simply: "To love Jesus and serve our neighbor". In my estimation, La Mesa's strengths include traditional, yet innovative Reformed worship, an outstanding music program, a strong commitment to serving this neighborhood, and a community of people who are hospitable to those whom God sends this way. I invite you to find these strengths to be true as you experience our worship. Whenever we receive new people into our congregation, we become a richer community than we were before. The church is always being stretched to embrace the interests and talents of those who come to join this company of disciples. So do join us and don't be shy to dream out loud! I am grateful that God has brought you to this web site and pray that you might find La Mesa a spiritual home where you can "love Jesus and serve your neighbors". Yours In Christ, Trey Hammond, Pastor |
